Contributing to Core

Contributor day at WordCamp Nashville is all about learning how to get involved with the WordPress project. It’s ok if you’ve never contributed before, we’ll have people on hand to help you through it. Not a coder? No problem! Answering questions in the support forums or giving feedback on a feature of WordPress are both helpful ways to give back to the WordPress community.

Make sure you bring your laptop and charger with you on contributor day! It also helps to make sure you have a WordPress.org account as well as a WordPress.org Slack account and Slack installed on your machine (or use the web app). For some teams, it is also necessary to have a local installation of WordPress. If you do not have a local installation of WordPress, feel free to use this guide to set one up.
